Lloyd Kurtz Biography

Lloyd  Kurtz is a senior portfolio manager at Nelson Capital Management, an investment firm in Palo Alto, California, where he plays a lead role in the firm's social investment program.

From 1995 to 2004, he was senior vice president and research analyst at Harris Bretall Sullivan & Smith, a San Francisco money management firm.

From 1989 to 1995, he was senior research analyst at Kinder, Lydenberg, Domini & Co., a Boston firm specializing in social investment research.  While at KLD, he did much of the initial quantitative work in the development of the Domini Social Index.

He serves as a Research Fellow at the Center for Responsible Business at the Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley, where he administers the Moskowitz Research Program, including the Moskowitz Prize

He has published articles on the performance of socially screened investments  in The Social Investment Almanac, Journal of Investing, Journal of Performance Measurement, and The Investment Research Guide to Socially  Responsible Investing.

He received  an MBA in Finance from Babson College in 1991, graduating with Highest Distinction, and holds BA degrees in English and Psychology from Vassar College. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

In 1999 he received the SRI Service Award for his contributions to the field of socially responsible investing.
